L'Ancienne Ecole is big, bright and beautifully furnished. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space even if the house is full to capacity. The owners, Isabelle and Paul, are friendly and welcoming and go the extra mile to make sure their guests have everything they need for the perfect holiday. Outside there are many different places to sit and enjoy the sunshine, with a lovely pool and shady outside dining area.
The house is no more than a two minute walk from the village square with a variety of shops, two bars and an excellent pizzeria. Just up one of the little lanes leading from the square is lovely restaurant, Chez Claudette, and the second restaurant is literally a few steps away from the house.
For such a small village there was a lot to do, from the marked walking trails and little shops and galleries to the entertainment on the square which ranged from morning markets and craft fairs to a range of evening entertainment including a performance of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" (which we watched from the nearby bar.). The fabulous "Marche des Gourmands" on a Monday evening is well worth a visit with live entertainment and a wide variety of food and drink on offer, produce of the local farms. Excellent!
Beaumont du Perigord is also an excellent base for visiting the other bastide towns in the region including Montpazier and Issigeac. Nearby Bergerac is also well worth a visit. All in all a fantastic holiday which I would highly recommend.
